Nelson, commenced to day. The first innings resulted iu a tie at 7S runs. December 2S. The Interprovincial cricket match—Wellington r. Nelson —ended in a draw, and was determined by the lir.st innings. Nelson made 62 runs in their second innings, and Wellington 4d, with three wickets to fall when time was called. Arrie.d—Emilio, brig, from Mauritius, with sugars. Bluff, December 2S. A large ship is in the straits ; supposed to be the Zcalandia or City of Dunedin. Christchurch, December 27. The Kaiapoi regatta was held yesterday, the weather being tine and the attendance large, but the races were spoiled by a heavy flood in the river. Kaiapoi won the champion four-oared race, the Avon Club being second and the Heathcote Club third. A man named Richard Bean was out for a sad in a boat with bis three children, when it capsized. The youngest child, aged seven years, was drowned. Hokitika., December 27. The Exhibition Mas successfully opened yesterday. Judge Harvey delivered the inaugural address. The National Anthem was sung by those present, accompanied by the Volunteer baud. Congratulatory messages were forwarded to the Governor and others. The Town Hall was crowded.
