THE DUNEDIN MUSICAL SOCIETY.

To the Editor of the Evening Star, Sir,—Will you allow me to suggest to your correspondent “ Wellwisher ” the propriety of allowing the Dunedin Private Musical Society to manage their own affairs. If the opinion of “ Wellwisher ” be of so much value as he seems to imagine, he may give it greater weight by becoming a member of the Society, when his vote will count one, and he will be better entitled to claim what his mere good wishes can hardly be expected to command, viz., the right to nominate a conductor when the society desires a change. —I am, &c., Member D.P.M.S. Dunedin, 13th Dec. 18(59.
