BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.

(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.)

Invercargill, Friday.

The Commissioners of the Otago and Southland Union have unanimously agreed to their report, recommending the union on terms which are considered favorable to both parties.

LATEST FROM AUCKLAND. Dr Pollen, a candidate for the Superintendency, addressed a monster meeting of the diggers at the Theatre Royal, Thames, on the 26th ult. Fifteen hundred persons were present. He was badly received, and his speech was not effective. He was interrogated by the diggers on several matters, including the Treason Felony Bill; and having admitted introducing it into the Upper House, was groaned at. Messrs Buckland and Mackay tried to address the meeting, but were hissed down. A show of hands was given in favor of Mr Williamson, for whom three cheers were given. The meeting ended with a grand melee on the stage, in the midst of which some wag dropped the curtain. Several merchants are removing goods from their lower stories, in anticipation of Saxby’s flood. Mr Williamson’s chance of re-election is considered certain. The Rapido has arrived from Batavia. A man named O’Connor, it is reported, presented two green flags to Manuwhira, with death’s head and cross bones on them.

The King Natives, it is reported, will attack Te Kooti conjointly with the Friendlies.

On September 28th, a crushing of 120 tons from the City of Glasgow claim yielded 1,920 ounces of gold. The Governor arrived at Taranaki on Sunday, and was well received. Mr Vogel leaves for "Wellington in a few days.
