GENERAL ROAD BOARD.

Tins Day. The General Road Board met at the Provincial Buildings to-day. Present His Honor the Deputy-Superintendent, Messrs Reid and Dnncan. Several appointments by different Road Boards were approved and confirmed.. Applications were made to the Board to sanction rates adopted by various local District Boards. A resolution was passed as follows : The General Road Board recommend that in all cases the assessment be levied on the annual value as being the most just and least expensive method. Applications to levy rates were granted to the follow ng districts : —Heleusbrook, Uoalyn, Allday, Taieri Reach, Oranbourne, Wangatna, Waiwera, Totara, t'lydevale, Teanaraki, Walton, Mornington, Tomahawk Wakari, Anderson’s Bay, West Taieri, Green Island, N. E. Valley, Highcliffc, Mount Royal, Pine Hill, Portobello, Caver.-ham, Beaconfield. An application for the formation of a new Road District at Catl n’s River was gra ted, and a similar application for East Hawkesbury refused. Permission was given to Mr E. Tutinan and party to mine on the public road leading to the Ferry at the Teviot. Several trivial matters came before the Board, and were disposed of. The Board adjourned.
