BRIGADIER M CD. WEIR The Minister of Defence (Mr. Jones) announced last night that the King has approved of the appointment of Colonel (temp. Brigadier) N. W. McD. Weir. C.8.E.. N.Z.S.G. as Aide-de-Camp (Additional to the King, in succession to Colonel (temp. Major-General) P. H. Bell, C.8., D.5.0.. N.Z.S.C., who relinquished the appointment on retirement. Mr. Jones said that it was his Majesty's desire that one officer of the N.Z. Forces should hold this appointment as a mark of approbation of their service. Each of the other Dominions is similarly represented. Brigadier Weir, who next month will take up the appointment of Chief of the Genera] Staff, has served in the N.Z. Regular Forces since 1911 and has held several staff appointments. He is at present Quartermaster-General and Third Military Member of the Army Board. He served overseas in the 1914-18 War and -also in the recent war.
