SEEKING FUNDS
Sir,—The cable item from Sydney on Tuesday bearing the above heading was no doubt read with great interest by all subscribers, and many would reflect upon the relative importance of the sending of money to Australian unions to prolong a strike or to enable goods to be imported into this country. It is to be hoped that the Minister of Finance will not sanction the remittance of political fighting funds to a country which is perpetually the recipient of more New Zealand money than we are of hers. If he wishes to permit money to go to Australia, let him increase the meagre allowances; to our importers because there are many things, including oranges for our measle-suffering children, which would be welcomed by the majority of the population.—l am, etc., FRANCIS H. GREENAWAY.
