REVOLT RUMOURED
TENSION IN BRAZIL
RIO DE JANEIRO. October 27. Amid widespread humours of impending revolution, the Brazilian Minister of War, General Aureho. directed the armed forces to keep clear of politics and withstand all political passions that would help to plunge the nation into civil war.' The correspondent of the Associated Press in Rio de Janeiro says that the armed force police has been set on the alert. Tension in the capital is high and the political situation has been growing more heated with the approach of the Presidential and Congressional elections on December 2.
The pro-Government evening newspaper "Anoite" in a signed leading article, said: "After a meeting of generals next week will come D Day. the hour of revolution."
The paper added that it had knowledge of a telegram from MajorGeneral Eduardo Gomes, one of- the candidates for President, ordering the suspension of the revolution, which had been scheduled to be launched,on October 26 and against the; Vargas regime.
