SOUTHLAND PROTEST

P.A. INVERCARGILL, October 27. The following resolution was passed at a meeting held in Invercargill yesterday:—"That this meeting, representing all Southland farmers, protests most emphatically against the action of the Government in abolishr ing the country quota. We are of the opinion that it is a definite breach of faith in view of: the reply received by the deputation which waited on Mr. Nash on July 20. We request that any action on this question be deferred till the country has an opportunity of stating its view through the medium of a referendum or as a plank of a party platform."
