ROWING REGATTA

The first inter-club regatta of. the season was held on Saturday, immediately after the formal opening of the Petone Rowing Club s season. Crews from the Petone, Wellington, and Star Clubs competed for the Redding Sield. which was won .by Wellington with 19 points, Petone being second with 17^ points and Star third with a.

Lightweight Maiden Fours.— Wellington (I. Tarrant stroke, B. Clancy 2, 0. Farrell 3, J. Bain bow), 1; Petone, 2. Won by three-quar-ters of a length. Senior Fours.—Petone (I. Carter stroke, F. Abbott 2. P. Clayton 3, F." Greenstreet bow), 1;t Wellington No. 2, 2; Wellington No. 1, 3. Won by two lengths. _ . Youths' Fours.— Wellington (W. Cnstie (stroke, T. Wilson 2, R. Parkes 3, B. Andrews bow), 1; Petone, 2. Welterweight Junior Fours. —Dead neat between Star and Potone. Crews were: Star (A. Armstrong stroke, R. Allum 2, E. Webb 3, J. Cowles bow), and Petone (G. Calvert stroke, S Gillan 2. W. Alexander 3, E. Burrows bow), Wellington No. 1 were third. Maiden Fours.—Petone No. 1 (F. Fowles stroke, N. Mahon 2, W. Alexander 3, J. Mullins bow), l; Wellington, 2; Petone No. 2, 3. Won by two lengths. By their win Wellington hold the trophy till the next inter-club fixture.
