AMATEUR ATHLETICS
The Basin Reserve would be available for training on four nights of the week and Wakefield Park on Saturdays, it was announced at the annual general meeting of the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club this week It was hoped to begin the season about October 20 although arrangements were not yet finalised. The president of the club, Mr. H. Amos, stated that there was no possibility of using the grounds at Hataitai for training this season. Only part of the ground was available and under the circumstances the best arrangement would be to use the Basin Reserve in conjunction with Wakefield Park.
The meeting decided to urge the incoming committee to arrange for a team to visit Wanganui during the season.
The committee was asked to try to organise a school of athletics this season similar to that which was conducted very successfully last year. Attendances were disappointing on club training nights last year and old members who attended to help with the coaching were much disappointed, as the lack of interest made it impossible to organise club competitions as had been intended.
