STRONG PROTESTS
MOSLEMS AND PALESTINE
LONDON, September 30
There have been strong Moslem protests against President Truman's suggestion in a letter to the British Prime Minister that displaced Jews should be admitted into Palestine. Threats have been made by Moslem leaders, one of whom stated in Jerusalem that any further Jewish immigration would be strongly resisted and declared that it would be a great error to believe that action would be confined to passive resistance.
Protests have been voiced in Palestine, Syria, and India, and Moslem religiqus leaders in Damascus have framed a memorandum to the United Nations pointing out that the carrying out of the suggested course would arouse the anger of Moslems throughout the world.
Indian opinion is said to be strongly behind the* Arabs in Palestine.
The guarding of military and public installations in Jerusalem has been taken over by East and West African troops.
