IN FORM OF LOANS

BRITISH AID FROM CANADA

OTTAWA, September 30. The Minister of Finance, Mr. Elsley, forecast in the House of Commons a total Government expenditure in the fiscal year beginning April 1, 1946, of 4,000,000,000 dollars compared with 5,000,000,000 in the present fiscal year. The estimate included "hundreds of millions" in loans to Allied nations to enable them to purchase urgently needed supplies from Canada. Bulk loans would go to Britain under a plan which will be worked out after the conclusion of the Keynes talks in Washington.
