FIRE AT GOVERNMENT HOUSE
Shortly after 10.15 a.m. today a call was received to a fire in the servants' quarters at Government House, where a curtain had come in contact with a burning gas jet. One machine from the Central Fire Station and one from Newtown attended. Tb.e blaze was not very serious and was easily extinguished. A curtain was destroyed, part of the bodywork surrounding the window was charred, and wallpaper was damaged. '
