ELECTRICAL TRADE
REHABILITATION ASPECTS
Rehabilitation had become a very important function of the Electrical Wiremen's Registration Board, said Mr. H. B. Keenan, representative on the board, to the annual conference of the Electric Supply Authority Engineers' Association yesterday. In assuring the conference that both the board and the Rehabilitation Department were determiried that the standard of certification should not be lowered, Mr. Keenan said that the credit tables dealing with electrical experience obtained by electrical apprentices and others while in the armed forces were of considerable assistance in assessing practical experience. However, it would be necessary in every case for the returned serviceman to pass the examination for proof of his efficiency in theory and practice. In many cases it would be necessary for returned men to have a further period of practical training. In such cases the Rehabilitation Department was co-operating with the board in an effort to have the men placed in positions where they would get sound training for an appropriate period. Mr. Keenan added that a high proportion of those entering electrical trades from the armed forces would be specialising in radio.
