TEDDER PROMOTED
LONDON, September 11. Air Chief Marshal Tedder has been made a Marshal of the Royal Air Force.
Air Chief Marshal Tedder, who is 55 years old this year, was formerly in the Colonial Service and went to the R.F.C. in 1916. He has held a series of high posts in the R.A.F., serving at the Air Ministry and being
Director of Training, Air Officer Commanding in the Far East, and DirectorGeneral of Research and Development. During the war he rose to be Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief in the Middle East and Vice-Chief of the Air Staff and later Air Commander-in-Chief of the Mediterranean Command. He was appointed General Eisenhower's deputy for the invasion of Europe.
