SEVEN MONTHS' FIGURES
The overseas trade, position of wew Zealand for the first' seven months of this year shows a vast improvement when compared with that for the corresponding period last year. Details supplied by the Customs Department today state that for this period, ended July 31 last, there was a favourable balance of £18,567,000; the same seven months in 1944 yielded an adverse balance of £18,837,000. Exports in 1945 were more than £8,000.000 higher at £49.574.000, while imports dropped by £24,000,000 to £31,007.000. For July exports at £5,421,000 left a favourable balance of £369,000, as against an adverse figure of £3,947,000 for July, 1944, and one of £5,727,000 for July, 1543. The following table compares the position over the last five years, the imports values including defence materials and equipment, and lendlease supplies:—
