ACROSS SIBERIA

RUSSIANS MODERNISE LINE

LONDON, September 10

Soviet experts are buying new rail equipment worth millions sterling in Britain and America, says the "Daily Express." The purchases are intended for the modernisation of the TransSiberian line from Moscow to the Soviet ports of Vladivostok and Kharbarovsk. This will be supplemented by a trans-Russian air-mail and passenger service and will make the journey from London to Shanghai possible in 5i days. It is expected that a new type of Diesel locomotive will cut down the railway journey between Moscow and Harbin from nine days to six days. The new Siberian expresses will be among the finest de luxe trains in the world. The trans-Siberian railways during the war have been completely double-tracked, and in some places quadrup, led.
