HUTT MILK PRICES

Sir, —In the "New Zealand Gazette" of August 23, 1945, the price for milk in the Hutt Valley and Bays milk district was given at 3Jd a pint, or 6£d for two pints, during the months November to April inclusive. On the face of this, it looks as if the price a quart drops id during the flush months (from 7d), but, as only pint tokens are at present sold by quite a number of the vendors, and as the price a pint does not alter, remaining at 3£d throughout the year, it would appear that these vendors will be making an additional Id on every quart of milk sold during the months November to April inclusive, if the present pint token system is adhered to. Only pint bottles of milk are supplied in the majority of cases, and, as consumers have already had to purchase these, points such as the above should be clarified or adjusted, so that the consumers get the benefit of the reduction. —I am, etc., TWO QUARTS.
