SATURDAY YACHT RACING
At the annual meeting of the Evans j Bay Yacht and Motor-boat: Club it was decided to hold the coming season's centreboard yacht racing programme on Saturday afternoons instead of Sunday mornings. Mr. L. Robertson said Sunday racing had been» a wartime expedient to enable yachtsmen who worked in essential and other industries on Saturday afternoons to participate in competitive sailing. Most of these workers now. had Saturday afternoons free. It would probably be more convenient for the majority of club members to race on Saturday afternoons in future. Mr. T. Petherick contended that Sunday morning racing prevented yachtsmen enjoying a full days cruising. Now that more of. the harbour had been opened to pleasure craft, it was to be expected yachtsmen would make full use of the extended.) cruising grounds. Sunday racing would | hinder their activities in this direc-j 'lion. '•
