SOLVER SPRINTS

CZARINA SHOWS PROMISE

(Special to "The Post") PALMERSTON N., This Day. Horses engaged at Wanganui were given their final gallops at Awapuni under favourable conditions, the morning being fine and mild and the going very much better than on Tuesday. The flags were 50 feet out on the course proper, and the plough was fairly fast. One of the best gallops of the morning was that of Solver (A. G. Waddell), who came home fast the last "three furlongs in a tick better than 42sec to cover the last seven of a round in 1.44 1-5. Theolateral (W. J. Broughton)" went with Czarina (J. Kendall) over, six furlongs, and Czarina, on the inner, held a slight lead throughout. Theolateral closed on her over the last bit. but Czarina beat him a neck in 1.28 2-5, the last three in 44sec.' Czarina is not engaged at Wanganui. Specialist (W. J." Stevens) and Langue dOr (Boreham) were associated^ in an easy six in 1.34 2-5. Reversion (Waddell) and Tremello (Tattersall) hopped away short of the five and a half furlong barrier. They travelled well down the back stretch and came home in 43 2-ssec to complete in 1.18. Speed King (Stevens) was in front of Tahli (V. Sellars) at the end of five in 1.11 3-5. Lord Bradbury (Tattersall) and Bezany (Waddell) took 1.12 in a similar task. Sir Bradbury (Broughton) went five but wa.s not timed. He was travelling fast at the finish. Theiolyn (A. S. Ewan) maintained an even pace over seven furlongs, which he ran in 1.49 2-5. Scroll (Andrews) and Havildar (Stevens) were sent away from a barrier start. Havildar began better, but Scroll moved up very quickly and was timed to run three furlongs in 43sec. Omahina (Tattersall) was not troubled in running her last three furlongs in 45sec. Controller (Waddell) sprinted half a mile on the plough, breaking 40sec for the last three. A number of horses were schooled on the new track, among, them being Gold Money Song (Andrews), twice round without much pace on; Red Rocket in front of First King, twice round; and Red Glare (W. Jenkins), once round in his usual first-class style. Red Glare is to race on the second day at Wanganui. Riding engagements announced for Wanganui are:—A. Midwqod, Kiwi Pai; H.
