SURRENDER OF ENEMY

Kec. noon. CANBERRA, September 5. Brigadier E. L. Sheehan, of the Australian Army, met Japanese surrender envoys from New Britain aboard the destroyer Vendetta- off Rabaul yesterday. The meeting was held to make preliminary arrangements for the f,ull surrender of the Japanese in the New Britain area outside Rabaul tomorrow. The prisoners of war held in the New Britain area include one New Zealander, one Australian, 18 British, seven Americans, and one Dutch, all of whom are reported to be in good health.
