Replying to "The Dragon," "Maraea Whakanana" writes: '"'The Dragon' went on to say that 50 years ago the ! Native he knew was self-reliant and did not seek Government aid. My people 50 years ago owned their own land They were simple, kind-hearted, trusting The result was they woke up to find they had very little if any, nrnnprtv left ... I agree with him SSSbS says the Natives of 50 years ago had a different outlook on life from today. I do deny that my people today are being 'spoon led.' They axe being protected and encouraged to farm what little property they have left, and some are doing a good job. Many have given their lives that The Dragon' may enjoy his own home, plus the security and freedom of Maoriland." ANSWER TO CORRESPONDENT.
