LAWN TENNIS
PLANS FOR THE FUTURE
Present indicatioriy are ; that the next season's requirements of tennis balls will be provided for adequately, and the time for a complete resumption of the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association's activities is near, according to the report of the association to be presented at the annual meeting next Tuesday. The report expresses the hope that the Catholic SubAssociation and the Wellington Northern Districts Sub-Association will flourish as in the past as conditions b.ecome more normal. . The association is regaining strength after years of depletion, but there is still much leeway to make up in that the strength, exclusive of the schools' associations, is under 2000, whereas in 1939, omitting the Hutt Valley membership, it was 3277. Although the territory has been decreased, it is considered that there is room for many more clubs within the association's boundaries, and if the re-, newed interest now evidenced continues existing clubs will soon be unable to accommodate . those desiring membership. This, it is stated, provides a great opportunity for recommencing clubs which were forced into recess by reason of the war.
