MILLERTON COAL STRIKE
P,A'; WESTPORT, June 24. "As' far as is known, there is_ no change in the situation at the Millerton cbal mine, where a strike occurred 6ii ' Friday. The mine will be open ;if ,the men turn out to work tomorrow morning. ~-„«. , A train conveying 500 tons of coal left today, via the Buller Gorge, for Lyttelton, where a ship is lifting whatever coal is available. The stoppage at Millerton has not caused much concern to the railway authorities, as, owing to the slackness in shipping, coal has been accumulating jn the yards, without immediate means of its shipment to other ports. COURSING P.A. '. MASTERTON. This Day. At the Wairarapa Coursing Club's I meeting at the weekend the New Zealand St. Leger was won by J. Bradbury's (Masterton) Escapade, which defeated P. Richards's (Auckland) Leningrad, three to nil. In the final the Physick Cup was won by J. Ryan's (Masterton) Royal Step, which beat P. Richards's Ukraine. j
