WOOL SHIPMENTS
P.A. GISBORNE, June 1. While New Zealand wool producers are awaiting wtih interest the reopening of the wool traffic between the Dominion and the United Kingdom on a normal peacetime scale, piecemeal shipments have been proceeding as space in overseas vessels has been available A significant feature of this reduced traffic is that scoured and slipe wools appear to have distinct preference, and the assumption is that these consignments were selected with a view to getting woollen manufactures on the Continent of Europe moving as early as possible. It is reported that most of the slipe and scoured wool is held in Gisborne on the Russian account, and that since November more than 10.000 bales have been dispatched to the main ports.

Mr. R. A. Krebs, man-power officer for the past two years at Napier, and also secretary of the Armed Forces Appeal Board, has received notice of his transfer to the head office of the National Service Department, in Wellington, where he will be engaged in post-war research into employment matters.
