KING'S BIRTHDAY

OUTDOOR ATTRACTIONS

Given a continuance of fine weather, the King's Birthday holiday in Wellington and the Hutt Valley on Monday will provide a catalogue of sport catering for all tastes.

A comprehensive programme of Rugby football matches has been arranged. In the afternoon, at Athletic Park, a representative match, Services v. Wellington, will be played. This will be preceded by the finals of a seven-a-side tournament, the preliminaries to which will be played on Kilbirnie Reserve and Wakefield Park in the morning.

A Christchurch Technical Old Boys' team will play a Petone fourth grade team at Petone early in the afternoon. Plans had been made for a big patriotic day at Petone, but these were upset by the inability of Masterton Old Boys to send down two teams to meet Petone seniors and thirds.

At Kelburn Park in the afternoon the Victoria College Rugby representatives will meet Auckland University, last year's Auckland senior champions, in their annual match.

A Wellington representative Rugby team will visit Palmerston North for a match against Manawatu.

For racegoers the nearest meeting to Wellington will be that of the Wanganui Jockey Club, which is holding the second day of its Winter Meeting.

Hutt Valley and Wellington City Association football representatives in various grades will provide the attractions at the Basin Reserve, commencing at 1.15 p.m.

A women's seven-a-side tournament will be held at Karori Park, commencing at 9.30 The Salvation Army will hold a united field day and bands' review at Newtown Park, commencing at 9.30 a.m. If the weather is wet, the gathering will be held in the Town Hall.
