WATERSIDERS' DECISION

PA. AUCKLAND, This Day. Night shift work on certain Union Steam Ship Company vessels carrying coal cargoes will be worked by members of the Auckland Waterside Workers' Union in view of the critical coal shortage and its effect on the public. The decision was made at a recent meeting of the union, whose dispute with the Union Company has not yet been settled. The union also urges that during the coal crisis timber should not be loaded on top of coal in ships' holds, as this would cause a delay of three or four days in discharging.
