RUGBY FOOTBALL

MATCHES WITH CANTERBURY

When Canterbury's suggested dates for matches with "Wellington—July 21 at Christchurch and August 4 at Wellington—were before the Wellington Rugby Union's management L'ommittee last night it was decided to point out to the Canterbury Union that Wellington had suggested July 14 and August 11 as the dates.

It was agreed that an endeavour be made to meet a request by the Hutt Valley St. John Ambulance Building Campaign Committee for a match to be played at the Hutt Recreation Ground in aid of the building fund.

Regarding representations by the Hutt Rugby Club about the hot-water service being given at Strand Park, which was also being used by other codes, it was decided to take up with the Lower Hutt City Council the matter of providing accommodation for the other codes to relieve the burden falling upon the Rugby club. To fit in with train arrangements, it was decided to start games at Porirua and Plimmerton in future at 2.30 p.m. Permission was granted to the Petone Club to send its third C team to Feilding on June 4 to play a match there, and to Customs and Treasury teams to play a match at Wellington on the morning of May 26.
