SECOND RING PENETRATED
NEW YORK, April 27
The Guam correspondent of the Associated Press says that American troops have fought their way from the captured key positions in southern Okinawa into.-the Japanese secondary "stone wall," beyond which MajorGeneral Hodge sees ultimate victory.
The Japanese have been driven from all key positions in the first heavilyfortified defence zone.
General Hodge expressed the opinion that when the second defence ring is broken the inner circle about Naha should be smashed without too much trouble, though the Japanese in that area are the most intelligent he has yet encountered.
