FIRES AT MIRAMAR

There were two fires at Miramar today, but neither was very serious and they were soon extinguished. At 11.15 a.m. a call was received to a fire in a washhouse at the rear of a combined dwellinghouse and shop at 87 Darlington Road. One machine from Miramar and two from Constable Street attended, and though the flames had a good hold when the brigade arrived they were confined to the washhouse i and soon extinguished. The premises [are owned by the Pointon Estate and are occupied by Mr. A. Woodward.

At 12.32 a.m. one machine from Miramar attended a small fire in fat in an oven in a house in Townsend Road, the flames being extinguished by chemical extinguisher.
