MOLYNEUX FLOOD
POSITION NO WORSE P.A. DUNEDIN, This Day. The seriousness of the South Otago flood has hot lessened, but Kaitangata residents were today more confident that the position would not become worse. No appreciable rise in the level of the water in the large area inundated has ;occurred during the last 24 hours, arid it is hoped that the steps taken under direction of the Minister of Works (Mr. Semple) will bring fairly quick relief. At mid-day the flood gates near the Kaitangata dairy factory, which are bearing the full pressure of the flood waters, were still standing the' strain, and no further serious erosion had occurred. The danger to the factory is still acute, but no greater than yesterday.
Men arid equipment mobilised by Mr. Semple were on the job today to begin the formidable task of closing the gap through which a considerable proportion of the flow of the Molyneux is pouring.
