BRITAIN'S COURAGE

REPLIES TO MESSAGES

The Municipal Association, of New Zealand recently cabled the chairman of the London County Council and the Lord Mayor of London expressing the admiration of the people of New Zealand represented through their municipalities for the great courage and steadfastness of the people of London during the past five years of war. The association has received the' following replies:

"Please convey to members of the association the deep gratitude of the citizens of London for your generous message. Such kindly support does mean very much to us." Signed Frank Alexander, Lord Mayor of London. "On behalf of the people of London I thank your association for its sympathetic message. We are grateful for the helpful encouragement given us by your message and by others received from many other parts of the world. The people of London were proud to have their share in staving off defeaj; four years ago. They are proud to have their share in winning victory today. I should like, on their behalf, to pay a tribute to the steadfastness and courage of those living outside the London County Council I area who have been compelled to share the burden of the enemy's indiscriminate attacks."
