ALLIED UNITS IN ITALY

ADVANCE DOWN ROAD

(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) Rec. 11.30 a.m. LONDON, Dec. 1. Indian and British troops of the Fifth Army made progress along the Faenza-Florence road,, meeting with only light resistance, says the correspondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain in Italy.' The Germans appear to be trying to straighten the bulge between Bologna and Faenza in order to carry out this movement they are drawing in troops from the mountains.

There is heavy fighting on the Eighth Army front around Alberto, northwest of Faenza, but there is no change in the positions. Eighth Army infantry and tanks attacked between the Montone and Lamone Rivers. Patrols found the Germans dug in on high ground behind the Lamone River.
