MR. R. H. METHVEN
°-&, a «, ' * KELSON, October 2. n/rT^ e' death of Mr- Ronald Henley Methven, a master at Nelson College oourred this morning after an illness extending over several months. Mr Methven, who was 47 years of age was a returned soldier of the Great War He graduated as. M.A. from Canterbury College. He was a teacher for a short period at the Hamilton High School and then at the Timaru Boys' High School for two years before being appointed to the Nelson College staff twenty years ago. He t was housemaster of Domett House and took a keen interest in the activities of the college. With the rank of captain, he took an active part in the College Cadet Corps, for a number of years he was coach of the first fifteen, and •at the time of his death was coach of the.first eleven.
Mr. Methven was a member of the Nelson Golf Club and a warden in' the E.P.S., and was formerly a member of the Nelson City Cricket Association. He leaves a widow, one.son (James), and a daughter (Dorothy), both of whom are college pupils.
