Rec. 11.30 a.m. RUGBY, October 1. A hill m the Mayu Range south-east of Maungdaw was captured by men from a Home Counties regiment, states a South-east Asia communique. The Japanese opposition was slight. On the Tiddim road contact has been regained with the enemy near Chocolate Staircase, a long series of hairpin bends by which the road climbs 3000 feet towards Tiddim. - In. northern Burma British troops have continued patrol activity.
