Government House, Wellington, ' m ,. September 29. This afternoon her Excellency Lady Newall was present at the annual meeting of the League of Mothers, Welling. ton Province.

The board of governors of John McGlashan College, Dunedin has appointed Lieutenant-Colonel J R J. Conolly D.5.0., to the position of headmaster of the college in succession to Mr. R. G. C. McNab, who resigned on receiving a British.Government, appointment in the Middle East. Lieutenant-Colonel Conolly, whose home is in the Paeroa district, spent some years before the war as a teacher in State schools in the Auckland Province, one appointment being at Ngatea District High School. He has a particularly fine record in the teaching profession. He returned to the Dominion on furlough last April. .
