WELLINGTON MATCHES

The Wellington Rugby League team which beat. Canterbury was in the field at the Petone Recreation Ground on Saturday against a. team from the Rest, and the event, which attracted Keen interest, provided a bright exhibition of the code, the fast, open ,play producing points in plenty. The Rest set the representatives no mean task and held the lead at half-time, but that position was changed by an impressive performance in the second half, the representative side winning by 36 points to 22. Part proceeds of the match were for patriotic purposes.

Hacdonald" and Posselt were well in the limelight for Wellington and they scored three and two tries-.respectively. Kreyl and Miller also scored two tries apiece and Chandler one. rhree of Hie tries were converted by Collop For the Rest Hulford, Boswell, Brown, Woods. Bolton, nnd McKeitch each scored a try, McElwain converting one and kicking :t penalty goal. Mr. McDcrmott was the referee. In the final of the knock-out' competition, Played as a curtain-raiser to tho special match Randwicfc beat Army by 9 points to S. aiiller McCafoo, and Hedgberjr each scored a try for the winners, and McDonald and Laing did likewise for Army, Fitt adding a penalty goal to the account. The Cecil Woods Memorial Cup was presented to Army as winners of the League's second division competition. A match for the Inter-Port' Challenge Tup between the Auckland and Wellington Waterside teams, was played at Xewtown Park, the visitors winning by 23 points to nil. 'Xurnbull scored two tries and Anderson, Bodman, and J. Ellis one each, Silva converting two and kicking a penalty goal and Ellis converting one. Ihe cup was handed over to the winners ny Mr. 11. Barnes, national president of the Waterside Workers' Federation.
