DINGOES FOR POLICE WORK
Constable H. Denholm, of the New South Wales Police Force, who has become world famous as a dog trainer is attempting, for the first time, to tram the wild Australian dingo for police work. He has acquired two dingo puppies from the Sydney Taronga Park Zoo. "I don't think it has ever been'done before, but I have wanted for years to make the experiment," he.said. "As a boy in Queensland I trained a dingo to sit up, catch a ball, and jump over a stick, but I don t know how they will respond to serious work." He does not think that dingoes will reach the high standard of Alsatians in police work. The puppies are seven weeks old. Ordinary training of police dogs does not begin until about six'months, but Constable Denholm has already taught the pups to play with a ball. "Whether their training will follow the regular course depends entirely on their temperament," he said. The puppies at present are friendly, but cautious.
