THE ROBOT ZONE
DIRECT INFORMATION LONDON, September 1. The Germans had roughly one flyingbomb launching site every two or three miles between Rouen and Le Havre, said the N Mayor of Rouen to a British United Press correspondent. The Mayor added that according to reliable reports the Germans liad about 2000 launching sites in France. "A few days after the invasion," he said, "we saw the first faombs launched. Three or four fell on French soil and ten fell in ,the area round my house. A fortnight ago the Germans started blowing up and dismantling the sites in this area. I believe that the majority of the sites west of the Rouen-Dieppe line are unusable." Yesterday afternoon R.A.F. Halifaxes and Lancasters, with fighter cover, attacked long-range weapon supply depots in northern France. The enemy are using hew northerly flying-bomb bases, either in the extreme coastal tip of northern France or more likely the Belgian coast. There-has been a lull of more than 24 hours in attacks from the Pas de Calais area. Waves of bombs were not very frequent today, and only a small number was sent over.
