U.S. VEGETABLE ORDERS

A rumour that has gained currency among commercial growers of vegetables—indeed so wide a currency that home gardeners have thought of putting the spade aAvay—that the demand for vegetables would be much lighter this and next year, was replied to and definitely contradicted by the Acting Director of the Internal Marketing Division, Mr. R. P. Fraser, at the annual conference of Commercial Gardeners. "The American requirements for vegetables, both fresh and for dehydration, are as great as ever," said Mr. Fraser. "That is the advice we have at the moment. There has, hoAvever, been an adjustment as between the quantities of certain varieties of vegetables, of some more are required, of some less, but in the aggregate the requirements are not down."
