SABANG BOMBARDED

Rec. 9 a-m. NEW YORK, July 26. Tokio official radio quoted a Japanese^ communique announcing an attack on Sabang. This reads: "Allied naval units, consisting of several cruisers, destroyers, and submarines, approached Sabang harbour, in western Sumatra, yesterday morning and bombarded ground installations. Simultaneously about 20 carrier-based aircraft raided Sabang.

"Garrison units intercepted and repulsed the enemy after sinking two destroyers and one submarine, heavily danjaging a destroyer, and shooting doApn the majority of the planes."
