AMERICAN TOWELS
RELEASES TO PUBLIC
When asked today when the towels recently imported by the Ministry of Supply would be available to the public the Minister of Supply and Munitions (Mr. Sullivan) said that the terry towels and towelling had now been released and were being distributed throughout the Dominion. Some of the towelling had already been sold in Auckland and Wellington. Distribution would be through trade channels,'and within the next week or so practically the whole of the Dominion should be covered. .
The release of the tea towels would follow almost immediately, and these should' be available throughout the Dominion within a fortnight. There were $ome stocks of tea towels in the country, and the urgency was not quite so great in regard to this line.
Mr. Sullivan said that the order placed with the American authorities v/as for .3,000,000 towels and 1,500,000 yards of towelling. Of these quantities 2,000,000 towels and 500,000 yards of towelling had arrived. It was expected that the balance of the order would arrive in the Dominion shortly.
