CHECK-UP ON FAULTS C TI] c system adopted by the Internal Marketing Division; "providing for butter bearing code marks was under notice during the hearing of a case before the Wellington Industrial Manpower Committee. Correct code marks at was explained by the manager of [Combined Distributors, gave a clue as ito where any faults lay. The markangs were the means of ascertaining fthe cause in cases of complaints about butter, and through them it jcould be determined whether any black anarket butter was being sold. Between 400 and 500 boxes, approximately !22,5001b, of butter were handled daily 'by the Division. Recently three boxes [had been returned by the distributors •because the markings were incorrect, fa matter-which was regarded as serious in view of complaints about rancid •butter. Such complaints, it was stated, to be more than previously, ithough not much more. Comment was imade by the chairman of the committee (Mr. J. J. Scott) that he could (Understand the concern of the DiviiSion in having the supervision as faultless as possible.
