NORWEGIAN PEOPLE

KING HAAKON'S ADVICE

Rec. 9.30 p.m,

LONDON, June 6.

King Haakon of Norway broadcast to his countrymen, telling them that as a link in the great strategic plan which aimed at liberating the oppressed peoples of Europe the war in the west had today entered a new phase.

He urged Norwegians not to let their enthusiasm lead them into premature or unpremeditated acts. He urged them to hinder and impede the enemy by all means, but not to expose themselves or others. This did not apply to organised resistance groups who were in contact with the Allied, military authorities. They had been given their special orders.

King Haakon said that the Supreme Allied Commander would at all times keep them informed about what was expected of everyone under his command. By the radio and by other means Norwegians' would continue to be in close contact with their constitutional authorities.

"We salute the forces which have now gone into battle," he said. "Fel-low-countrymen, keep together. Long live the cause of the United Nations. Long live the cause of freedom."
