JOINED AUSTRALIAN AUXILIARY

An overseas exchange states that the first New Zealand airwoman to join the Women's Auxiliary Australian Air Force was Women's Auxiliary Leader Evelyn Ireland, of the New Zealand W.A.A.F., who enlisted in Melbourne recently, and became an AC.W. Alter the death of her parents, A.C.W. Ireland obtained permission to go to Australia, where her brother, Mr. Gordon Ireland, is a •musical producer for the Australian Broadcasting Commission in Melbourne. She was permitted to resign from the New Zealand -W.A.A.F. on giving an undertaking that she would enlist in- the Air Force in Australia.
