LOWER POWER CHARGES

NORTH AUCKLAND BOARD P.A. DARGAVILLE, May 12. Proposals for a reduction in charges to consumers of approximately £3300 were adopted by the North' Auckland Electric Power Board yesterday. The principal features of the new Schedule of charges are: Commercial lighting, reduced from 6£d to 5d per unit, a reduction from 6d to <5d per unit on the high rate block in .the allin domestic tariff; reduction of Jd per unit in milking and commercial power other than special rate ' consumers;' minimum charges reduced; discounts uniformly fixed at 20 per cent. The new schedule of charges is subject to Price Tribunal confirmation.' The boajd has been very successful under the chairman, Mr. J- N. Carroll, a success regarded as the more gratifying in that the board has been' operati ing, for only, nine years.
