BRAVERY AWARDS
NEW ZEALAND SOLDIERS Advice that the King has approved of the following awards to 2nd N.Z.E.F. personnel in recognition of gallant and distinguished service in the field, has been received by the Minister of Defence (Mr. Jones): — ': BAR TO D.S.O. Captain Donald John Stott, D.S.O. Mrs. A. Stott, 28 Oiewa Street, Birkenhead (m.). D.C.M. 2/Lt. Robert McDonald Morton. Mrs. Hilda Morton, Pirorau Street, Dargaville (m.). MILITARY MEDAL. Sgt. John Alexander Redpath, D.C.M. Mr. J. A. Redpath, 101 Cashel Street, Christchurch (f.). Captain Stott, who is 28 years old, left New Zealand with the First Echelon. In October, 1941, he was presumed prisoner of war, having been missing for some months,'but in December of the same year was reported to be safe at the 2nd N.Z.E.F. base camp. He was awarded the D.S.O. in August of last year. Before, the war he was employed by the "New Zealand Herald" as a rotary machinist. | Before the war a clerk employed by the Post and Telegraph Department at Whakapore, Second-Lieutenant Morton left New Zealand with the First Echelon. He was taken prisoner in July, 1941, but in December was safe with the 2nd N.Z.E.F. He was reported wounded in October, 1942. He is 25 years of age. Sergeant Redpath who, before the war, was a company manager at Wellington for Westland Developments, Ltd., left New Zealand in August, 1940. He has been posted missing twice, but in both cases he was later reported safe at 2nd N.Z.E.F. Base Camp. In March, 1942, he was awarded the D.C.M.
