FATAL COLLISION
ONE KILLED, FIVE INJURED
AUCKLAND, April 21,
One man received fatal injuries and five other persons were hurt when a motor-car collided with a truck at Takanini. The man fatally injured was James Cruse, aged 39, horse trainer, married, of Takanini. He was a son-in-law of Mr. F. Smith, of Glenora Farm, Takanini. He died in the ambulance on the way to hospital; Though the five injured persons were taken to hospital, only two wera admitted, the others being treated and discharged. The two admitted were Phillip Bertram Kiddell, married, aged 45, carpenter, of Green Lane, who suffered concussion, and Bertram Gray, aged 18, garage assistant, of Ponsonby, who had a broken collarbone. Both were in the truck.
The driver of the car in.which Mr. Cruse was a passenger was Mr. Gorge Smith, Glenora Farm, Takanini. He and Mr. Cruses two young children and another youth who were in the car suffered only minor injuries and shock. The driver of the truck, Mr. Bernard James Gray, suffered minor injuries.
