FRESH RECORDS SET TOP PRICE 1850GS. AGGREGATE OVER £70,000 Compared with the record-making effort of the opening day of the National Sales at Trentham on Friday last week, the continuation of the bidding yesterday lacked vigour. On the opening day the S2 lots sold returned an aggregate of 39,015 guineas, an ' average of i>o guineas a head, whereas yesterday's (8 lots added 25.445 guineas, an average of 3W guineas. ' Nevertheless, the full aggregate and average set , new records for the sales, the former reaching the commanding ' figure ot 67,460 guineas, and the, average-421 guineas. '■ ' Fashionably-bred,, youngsters ' were In keen demand throughout the sale. Twelve topped 1000 guineas on the opening day, the highest price being 2000 guineas. Yesterday, only five topped 1000 V guineas, the best price being lbou guineas paid for a colt by Robin Goodfehow from the Tea Tray mare Dresden China, the youngster thus being a" half-brother to the Great Northern Derby and St. Leger winner Greek Shepherd. The purchaser was Mr. T. R. George, of Masterton. Five sires were represented in the top-priced offerings, and progeny of Ringmaster, Bulatidshar, Foxbridgo, and Battle Song were others commanding particular attention.
