LONDON, January 2. All records for bombs and aircraft "y: dispatched were broken in December ■ "by American bombers operating from -~ -Britain. Ten major operations were ."" conducted, seven against Germany and ■*■•' three in France. Heavy bombers " "dropped more than 12,000 tons, .more ■ : than twice the weight dropped in November and nearly 35 per cent, of ' the total in the entire previous 16 - months. .' A total of 167 heavy bombers were :*■ lost, or 2.6 per cent, of the total air- " "craft dispatched. The average loss in '"the previous 16 months was 3.8 per - cent. The year's losses were 976 ' ~ bombers, which is well under 4 per ■ - cent, of those dispatched. A total of 3465 enemy fighters were destroyed, 836 were probably destroy- -"" ed, and 1591 were damaged.
